Young Performers Competition Winners



2007 Young Performers Music Competition Winners Announced
St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra held its annual Young Performers Competition on February 5th at St. Cloud State University. Thirteen candidates auditioned for the opportunity to receive scholarship funding to continue studying music and for the Grand Prize—the opportunity to perform with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra.

Grand Prize Winners are Nivedita Sarnath on violin and Lief Davisson on piano. Sarnath and Davisson will perform with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra on March 10 at 7:30 at the Paramount Theatre under music director, William Schrickel.

Scholarship recipients are:
Nivedita Sarnath-Violin—Technical High School
Lief Davisson-Piano—St. John’s Prep School
Amy Eisenstadt-Saxophone—St. Cloud State University

Each scholarship recipient receives $500 from the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra in order to continue the study of music.

Special Recognition Scholarships of $250 were awarded to:
Nathan Cornelius-Guitar--Homeschooled
Katie Timm-Piano—Sauk Rapids-Rice High School

Many of the contestants will perform on the Honors Concert. The Honors Concert will be held on February 21 at 7:00 pm in the Ruth Gant Recital Hall on the campus of St. Cloud State University. Tickets for the Honors Concert are available at the door. Tickets to the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra are available by calling 320-259-5463. The Sexton Foundation sponsors the Young Performers Competition.
