Join the Orchestra

St Cloud Symphony Orchestra / About Us / Join the Orchestra

Join us as we bring musical enrichment to audiences of all ages in Central Minnesota through Masterworks and Pops concerts, Classics for Kids programs, Senior Outreach Concerts, holiday programs, and chamber music performances.

The St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will hold auditions for all string positions and substitute woodwind and brass players in January.

Woodwind and brass players will audition in front of a committee.

String players will have 2 options for joining the orchestra.

  1. Play an audition consisting of two excerpts, with or without a solo of their choice. Excerpts are available digitally on the SCSO website, from the Personnel Manager, or in hard copy at Johnsons’ Violins in St. Cloud.

OR

  1. Play a concert cycle with the orchestra (sitting with the section principal), during which they will be evaluated by the principal of their section and the conductor.

Jill Pattock, SCSO Personnel Manager, will schedule and communicate audition times, deliver feedback to the musicians who audition, and will collect contact information from musicians chosen to join the orchestra.

New members of the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra will receive a digital copy of the Musician Handbook.

Contact SCSO Personnel Manager Jill Pattock at JPattock@stcloudsymphony.com to request excerpts and arrange an audition.
