Jill Pattock

Personnel Manager + Principal Clarinet

Dr. Jill Pattock is currently Principal Clarinetist with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra and freelance musician and teacher in the Twin Cities and surrounding areas. Prior to her return to Minnesota in 2007, she regularly performed as clarinetist of the Mountain Trio (Clarinet, Viola, and Piano) and as Principal Clarinetist of the Philharmonia of Kansas City. She also appeared often with the Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, the Kansas City Civic Orchestra, and other local ensembles. She was the principal clarinetist of the 2005 Austrian-American Mozart Academy in Salzburg, Austria, and was a member of the clarinet section in the 2004 Las Vegas Music Festival. She has served as co-principal Clarinetist of the Elkhart (IN) Symphony, as a substitute clarinetist with the Kalamazoo (MI) Symphony Orchestra, and was co-principal clarinetist with the St. Cloud (MN) Symphony Orchestra for the 1997-1998 season.

Ms. Pattock received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance in 2005. She holds a master’s degree in clarinet performance from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and an undergraduate degree in music education from St. Cloud State University. She was winner of the St. Cloud State University Sonare Orchestra concerto competition in 1997 and the UMKC Conservatory Concerto Aria competition in 2004.

Dr. Pattock is highly sought-after as a teacher and clinician.  Past work has included private lessons, clinics, and classes at the National School of Music in Mexico City, Mexico, Western Michigan University, Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa, Pittsburg (KS) State University, the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, and the UMKC Community Music and Dance Academy.  Dr. Pattock served as Adjunct Clarinet Instructor at St. Cloud State University for the winter semester, 2009.  She has adjudicated for high school statewide solo and ensemble contests in Missouri and Kansas, and has kept a private clarinet studio since 1996.  Dr. Pattock has done extensive research on performance anxiety, its affect on musicians, and coping strategies.
